In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:9-10

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Galatians 4:4-5

The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:9-14

Jake and Abby Weekend

Last weekend our friends Jake and Abby came to visit. They both live in Murfreesboro, TN and are good friends we know from college and the ministry Young Life that Laura and I were apart of. We got a chance to catch up with them and spent a fun-filled day in the city. Thanks Jake and Abby for buying plane tickets to come and see us. If anyone is in the Central New Jersey area any time soon we have a place for you to stay.

A Weekend in Tennessee

This past weekend Laura and I went back to Tennessee for the first time since our move to New Jersey. We were in town because our friends Tony and Krista were getting hitched. Seems like a lot of folks have been doing this sort of thing lately. We had a great trip for two reasons. One it was great to see friends and family and have a chance to catch up in person as opposed to over the phone or email. We enjoyed talking with everyone and thanks to all who asked about how things are up here. It was energizing for both Laura and I to know that so many people are thinking about us and praying for Jacob's Well. Secondly, during our trip both Laura and I felt much affirmation from God that New Jersey is truly where He would have us. It is easy for the enemy to place doubts in ones head about decisions made to serve the Lord, but being in Tennessee gave us much clarity of the need for the gospel in the Northeast and some motivation to take back with us to New Jersey. We ask that you continue to pray for us and the mission http://www.jacobswellnj.org/vision/2007/05/mission_statement.php of Jacob's Well.

A Date in Central Park

I have come to the conclusion that Central Park is my favorite place to be in Manhattan. Don't get me wrong, I love the city itself, but the park is a santuary amid the craziness that is New York. So, my husband knows me well and planned a little date for us. We spent the whole day hanging out in Central Park. We had a great time walking around Jacquline O Kennedy Reservoir, getting lost in the Ramble, checking out the views from the Castle, and admiring the trees in the Mall. Even with a "little" rain, wet hair, and jeans soaked up to our knees, we still had a great time. I am sure we will spend many more days in this park. -L.a.P.

You Can Vote However You Like

In honor of election week I thought it fitting to share this video. As a way to get students interested in learning about our country's election process and the candidates involved, teachers and students from the Ron Clark Academy http://www.ronclarkacademy.com/ in Atlanta came up with a Presidential rap entitled You Can Vote However You Like. The lyrics are set to the beat of Whatever You Like, by rapper T.I. The video was posted on You Tube before it gained national attention and as a result the students were featured on CNN and Good Morning America. No matter who you voted for this past Tuesday you have to appreciate the creativity this teacher used to get his students interested in the Presidential process. I hope you enjoy.

The Lyrics
Obama on the left
McCain on the right
We can talk politics all night
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah
Democratic left
Republican right
November 4th we decide
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah

McCain is the man
Fought for us in Vietnam
You know if anyone can
Help our country, He can
Tax dropping low
Don't you know
Oils gonna flow
Drilling low, off shore
Our economy will grow
I want Obama
FORGET OBAMA,
Stick wit McCain you gone have some drama
MORE WAR IN IRAQ
Iran he will attack
CAN'T BRING OUR TROOPS BACK
We gotta vote
Obama on the left
McCain on the right
We can talk politics all night
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah

Democratic left
Republican right
November 4th we decide
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah

(McCain supporters)
McCain's the best candidate
With Palin as his running mate
They'll fight for gun rights, pro life,
The conservative right
Our future is bright
Better economy in site
And all the world will feel our military might

(Obama supporters)
But McCain and Bush are real close right
They vote alike and keep it tight
Obama's new, he's younger too
The Middle Class he will help you
He'll bring a change, he's got the brains
McCain and Bush are just the same
You are to blame, Iraq's a shame
Four more years would be insane

Lower your Taxes - you know Obama Won't
PROTECT THE LOWER CLASS - You know McCain won't!
Have enough experience - you know that they don't
STOP GLOBAL WARMING - you know that you won't

I want Obama
FORGET OBAMA
Stick with McCain and you're going to have some drama
We need it
HE'LL BRING IT
He'll be it
YOU'LL SEE IT
We'll do it
GET TO IT
Let's move it
DO IT!

Obama on the left
McCain on the right
We can talk politics all night
And you can vote however you like
You can vote however you like, yeah
Democratic left
Republican right
November 4th we decide
And you can vote however you like,
I said You can vote however you like, yeah

I'm talking big pipe lines, and low gas prices
Below $2.00 that would be nice
But to do it right we gotta start today
Finding renewable ways that are here to stay

I want Obama
FORGET OBAMA,
Stick wit McCain you gone have some drama
MORE WAR IN IRAQ
Iran he will attack
CAN'T BRING OUR TROOPS BACK
We gotta vote Barack!

Obama on the left
McCain on the right
We can talk politics all night
And you can vote however you like,
I said You can vote however you like, yeah

Democratic left
Republican right
November 4th we decide
And you can vote however you like,
I said You can vote however you like, yeah

October 28th Snow Day?

That's right, yesterday we got our first snow of the year. I had not expected it to be this early but it was a nice surprise. The morning began cold and rainy, which I was very excited about. By 10:30 am it had turned to snow as you can see in the first video. 30 minutes later we had a nice dusting of the white stuff as the second video shows. From what I could tell it was no big deal for my fellow New Jerseyans but it was pretty good compared to a Tennessee snow, where it probably would have closed schools for a few days. I am looking forward to the "real snows" this winter. This has not historically been Laura's kind of weather but I think it is growing on her. I am planning a winter wardrobe budget for her that will consist of socks, long johns, mittens, scarves, and ear muffs. Hopefully she won't freeze. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Pumpkin Carving

Friday night Ross and I went over to the Lumry's for dinner and pumpkin carving. The Lumry's also moved from Tennessee to help start Jacob's Well. Amy is orginally from Alabama and Worth is from Seatle. Worth went to school at Princeton and Amy went to Auburn. They met in Tennesee and have been married for almost a year and a half. The Jones's also joined us. Scott and Sara live in Princeton. Scott works with a campus ministry called Faith in Action. Sara and Scott have been married for two years. They are now a part of Jacob's Well. We are excited to have friends who are newly married and without kids. It has been such a blessing to get to know them and start walking through life with them.

Worth carved "My Wife is Gourd-eous", Amy carved a cat, Scott represented Princeton Faith in Action, Sarah showed support for her New York Giants, and Ross and I carved the Jacob's Well logo.

All you can carry for $14.99

Ross and I went to get pumpkins for our pumpkin carving party with the Lumry’s and Jones’s. We went to this cute little farm in East Brunswick (at least I think that is where it was) and spent time roaming the fields of pumpkins, walking through corn mazes and apple orchards, and visiting the turkey, chicken, and pigs. The farm was great, however come to find out the pumpkins cost 0.59cents per pound. We decided we needed a better deal and went to try our luck at local Nursery/ Garden store. The farm was worth the experience and I am glad we went but we found our deal at one little garden store. All you can carry for $14.99. Of course Ross was excited about this!! The rules were, you could only use your two arms (no back packs or such), and it had to be witnessed by a store employee. So we browsed the isles of pumpkins and picked the ones we liked. I loaded Ross up with pumpkins one by one, even resting some against his face. He carried SIX!!! And the store employee gave us an extra one for the great effort. With all this said, if you are looking for a great deal on pumpkins head down South down Route 130 and carry as many as you can!
